Antibiograms of uropathogens in obstetric patients

چکیده
Background: Urinary tract infections (UTI) are the most commonly encountered inobstetric patients. Aim: The current study was undertaken to find spectrum of micro-organismsresponsible for causing UTI in obstetric patients and out appropriate antibiotic.Materials Methods: Consecutive different stages pregnancy with or withoutsymptoms attending antenatal clinic from June 2019 November 2020 were screenedfor significant bacteriuria. bacterial uropathogens isolated then subjected antimicrobialsusceptibility testing screened ESBL production methicillin resistance. Results: Duringthe 18-month period, 110 samples screened, a total 66 (60%) urinefrom pregnant females, found be positive on culture. TheEnterobacteriaceae accounted nearly 69.69% isolates E. coli alone for42.42% urinary followed by Acinetobacter 19.69%. Among Gram-positive cocci,Enterococcus 25.75% more frequently than Staphylococcus aureus (4.54%).Significantly high resistance noted beta-lactam group antimicrobials, fluoroquinolonesand cotrimoxazole, both Gram-negative bacilli as well cocci. Resistance wasquite low against aminoglycosides nitrofurantoin virtually absent imipenem. Conclusion: susceptibility patterns seen our seem suggest that it is necessary toobtain sensitivity reports before initiation antibiotic therapy cases suspected UTI.

Antimicrobial susceptibility of Gram-negative uropathogens isolated from obstetric patients.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the antimicrobial susceptibility of Gram-negative uropathogens isolated from pregnant women. METHODS We performed a snapshot cohort study of women receiving care in the University of Florida prenatal clinics during March 2000. Subjects with asymptomatic bacteriuria or cystitis were identified and the antimicrobial susceptibility of each pathogen was recorded. Data were a...
متن کاملBacterial Uropathogens Isolates and Antibiograms in Children Under 5 Years of Age
BACKGROUND Childhood urinary infections are among the most common febrile illnesses occurring during this period with varying susceptibility to antibiotic. AIM The aim of this study was to identify uropathogens responsible to for urinarytract infection (UTIs) in children less than 5 years of age, and determine the antibiograms of the isolates to commonly used antibiotics. PATIENTS AND METHO...
متن کاملAntibiograms from community-acquired uropathogens in Gulu, northern Uganda - a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND Urinary tract infections (UTI) are common in clinical practice and empirical treatment is largely employed due to predictability of pathogens. However, variations in antibiotic sensitivity patterns do occur, and documentation is needed to inform local empirical therapy. The current edition of the Uganda Clinical Guidelines recommends amoxicillin or cotrimoxazole as choice drugs for e...
